Special exhibition of sculpture

In conjunction with the Sprout art-loan event we are exhibiting a fascinating collection of sculptures by Harry Christophides, a selection of work will be available to loan but the rest is for sale.
Harry has been a practising architect in the UK for 60 years having arrived from Cyprus in 1960. Like his buildings, his sculptures are pragmatic and elegant, based on the ethos that ‘nothing goes to waste’.
Metal and timber off cuts and cast offs have been given a new life, evolving into a series of informal organic forms. They are compositions of pieces as found, assembled with minimal manipulation, enclosing space and creating depth of colour, light and abstract enigmatic forms.
The Sprout Art-Loan Exhibition

Our first Art-Loan of 2020 will be at the Sprout Art gallery. There are over 70 works available to loan, with new ones added to the collection every time, including 3D sculptures.
The idea of starting an Art Loan initiative is simple, people who are members of Sprout will be able to borrow an original work of art for four months and pay nothing, the artwork would then be available to someone else or could be bought. During the exhibition anyone can come in and see the work available and then join the scheme, new members can take home their chosen work of art on Saturday 8th. Some of the work, which has been with the scheme over a year, will be on sale during the week. There will also be a special exhibition of sculptures by the artist Harry Christophides.
MEMBER'S PRIVATE VIEW: Friday 7th Feb 5pm to 8pm
Current members will get first choice of the work at the Private View. There will be refreshments, a chance to meet many of the artists and artwork can be chosen and taken on the night. Bring a friend who is interested and they can become a member on the night and take part.
