I enjoy open spaces and the long view of emptiness within the landscape. Some of the images in this exhibition are based on photos I have taken while roaming the countryside. Others were painted in situ, usually on holiday with the sunshine on my back.

I am also intrigued by the structure of natural forms - trees, vegetables and flowers, both in bunches and singly in close-up.

If there is a message in my work, it is to slow down and have another look at the world around us, to appreciate both what is near and far away.

The quilts have many uses, as a baby wrap, a playmat, a child’s bedcover or a blanket for adult chilly knees.

The bags are just for fun and colour.

About Gill -

I have painted on and off all my life but after retiring I went to Wimbledon School of Art and achieved a modest B.Sc in Fine Art. I took advantage of every opportunity to exhibit during the course and enjoyed a three-month student swap to study at the Universidad Complutense de Bellas Artes in Madrid.

I have shown work in a City Bank and the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and once in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, as well as participating in several Wandsworth Open House Events and exhibiting at Sprout on two previous occasions.
