Print Six return to Sprout and we are now plus one!  Print Six + brings together seven local artist-printmakers who met at Putney School of Art and Design.  We use screen print as a method to create surprisingly different styles and genres; from the boldly graphic to delicate one-offs, from mono-print to colourful animal prints, from intricate pattern to works that take their starting point in nature, all our prints are original artworks produced by hand.

Participating Artists:

Sarah Acland trained as a geologist, graduating from the University of Cambridge with a first class honours in Geological Sciences and has a PhD from University of Durham in geochemistry. She has over the last 25 years done many art and design short courses in a variety of media including calligraphy, fine art, textiles, paper-making, photography and most recently screen-printing at Putney School of Art and Design.

Before concentrating on her art and bringing up a young family, she worked as an editor at the Mineralogical Society and at the charity RADAR. She has exhibited her work locally with the Friday Group. Sarah’s work is often inspired by her travels as a geologist or from her hobbies such as mineral collecting, fashion, or gardening. Her approach to art is experimental and although much of her work is screen-prints, she enjoys producing small-scale mixed media installations and has produced several collections of jewellery.

Cath Lloyd studied surface pattern design at university, which led to a lifelong interest in the interaction of pattern & colour. She introduces pattern into many of her prints, from simple doodles to texture and typography. An interest in icons and bold graphical imagery also plays a part in much of her work. A playful sense of humour is present in many of her pieces, either in the work itself or in the associated title. Cath is also available for commissions for specific requests.
