WATCHING - LUCINDA DENNING

21 MAY to 1 June

This exhibition is a gallery of figures and faces quietly watching and observing each other and the room. People’s unspoken communications have always interested me and I realised that is what many of my paintings portray.

The work itself is a mixture of new work on canvas and some small imagined scenes created inside sewing machine boxes incorporating Plaster of Paris figures. There are large works on canvas and smaller oil paintings as well as framed gouache and acrylic pieces.

Biography:

Lucinda Denning creates large colourful oil paintings and smaller gouache or acrylic pieces on paper in her Furzedown studio. Her paintings celebrate people pattern and colour; often inspired by nature or fabric. She also makes linocuts and mosaics. Lucinda has been exhibiting for many years and her work is in private collections nationally and internationally. Some of her work can be spotted in St Georges Hospital Tooting. Her paintings feature in the TV Drama Series ‘The Secret Life of Boys’ and in the Acorn TV series ‘The Chelsea Detective’

WANDSWORTH ARTS FRINGE

4th to 23rd JUNE

A fantastic range of rtists will be taking part in our Summer Showcase! Our artist members’ group show is part of this year’s Wandsworth Arts Fringe Festival.

Submissions will be accepted via email between 10th April and 4th May 2024.

Please check the drop off and collection dates are ok for you before applying. It makes things very difficult for volunteers and other artists if you ask for early drop-offs or late collections as we have no storage space. We will accept up to 3 submissions per artist from 1st April. We then aim to select at least one piece to include in the exhibition.

-       Mediums accepted - 2D, 3D, sculpture, ceramics, glass, metal or digital.

-       All work must be for sale and supplied ready to hang.

-       There is no theme.

-       There is no maximum price (Sprout commission is in our T&Cs below).

-       There is no maximum size but we are unlikely to select more than one large piece of work due to the number of artists participating and gallery space.

The participation fee is £10. Contact us if this would cause hardship so we can help.

We are looking forward to hosting this fantastic show by talented youngsters from Graveney. This exhibition consists of a selection of work from the Year 10 GCSE Art students at Graveney School.

The artwork on display are final pieces from either their coursework or exam unit as well as smaller 3D outcomes. Students have worked on personal portfolios, investigating topics that are of importance to them and have explored a range of different materials and techniques, which are evident within these great artworks.
